Description
According to reports from Lao Cai and Son La provinces, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds from the evening of July 31st to August 1st, 2026, caused the following damage:
- Regarding casualties: 2 people died, 1 person is missing after being swept away by water while crossing the road (Son La); 1 person was injured (Lao Cai).
- Regarding homes: 13 houses were affected by landslides and flooding; 30 houses were evacuated to ensure safety (Lao Cai).
- Regarding agriculture: 8 hectares of rice fields were flooded (Lao Cai).
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities mobilized forces and resources to assist people in overcoming the consequences of the disaster; they also inspected, reviewed, and compiled statistics on the extent of the damage.
